In the 9th century, a large Slavic settlement stood here. The Liechtenstein family later built an Empire-style château on the very same spot in 1812. Since 1958, continuous archaeological research has been conducted here.
Inside the Pohansko château, you can visit an archeological exhibition packed with audiovisual effects, touch screens and special film projections, allowing visitors to explore the rich history of the local Great Moravian fortified settlement. In front of the château you can peer into a Great Moravian dugout earth-house, whicg offers firsthand look at the daily life of the early Slavs and the people of Great Moravia.
